This HP-71B has a contact problem. The connector between the two halves of the calculator has been damaged and the calculator can not be tested because of this. The initial damage was a minor leak but I suspect the original owner tried to “fix” it and in the process damaged the connector. The last image of the gallery shows the connector in detail.

Not having experience with this kind of repairs, I have not attempted anything. The most obvious fix – solder a cable – is unfortunately a one-way street so I decided not to take it.

The calculator does not have any covers, peripherals or port covers.
